May 2, 2024 - 16:00 (EDT) - Update 1

This week, Brazil’s state of Rio Grande do Sul endured torrential storms, bringing heavy rains that caused life-threatening flooding and landslides to the southern regions. The severe weather has torn down bridges, destroyed infrastructure and flooded streets, making it hard for emergency services to provide life-saving support to affected areas. Thus far, 1,500 people are stranded, 21 people are missing and ten people have died.

All Hands and Hearts will continue to monitor this disaster and the reports as they come in.

We use information from reputable sources like the National Hurricane Center to make informed decisions regarding our responses to storms around the world.
